The 2016 Hog Jog will be partnering with the Stratford-Perth Shelterlink.
Funds raised through the Hog Jog will support Life Skills programming which ensure Perth County homeless youth and youth at-risk of becoming homeless to develop the thinking and skills necessary to live independently. For more information about Stratford/Perth Shelterlink visit www.shelterlink.org as well as our Facebook page.
Please help Stratford/Perth Shelterlink by collecting pledges. SPSL will be using the funding to purchase Life Skills programs and will be administering those programs to the youth that we serve.
Our Honourary Chair this year will be Erin Robinson. Erin grew up a city girl in Sudbury, Ontario. After finishing her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Communications at Wilfrid Laurier University, she met a young Hog Farmer. Erin and Jeff married in 2000 and 7 months later Erin left her job as a Senior Personal Banking Officer for Scotiabank, moved to the home farm and started working for her husband’s family business, Vista Villa Farms. Erin embraced farm life and the agricultural industry and has never looked back, being extremely proud to call rural Ontario “home”. Erin and Jeff have 3 daughters, Grace, Emma and Ava. Erin has been an active volunteer in her community for many years serving on several boards and fundraising committees such as the Seaforth Public School Parents Association and The Drive for Dean. Currently Erin is the President of the Exeter-Seaforth Ringette Association, the Chair of the Archives Committee and a Sunday School Teacher at St Peters Lutheran Church, as well as being a participant of the Hog Jog for many years in both the 10km and 3.5km events with her children.
In 2012 Erin’s daughter, Emma, heard about Shelterlink at their church and decided that instead of presents for her birthday party she would request guests to bring donations, such as laundry baskets and school supplies, for the residents of Shelterlink; things many of us take for granted. Emma’s guests enthusiastically donated and Emma was pleased to be able to help in some small way. The Robinson family is proud to support Shelterlink and the important role they play for youth in our community.
