Thank you to all of the participants and volunteers for making the 2017 HogJog a success! We had perfect weather for a run. We are still counting the totals but so far we are at $45,000 for Optimism Place.
It takes a team of over 75 volunteers to pull together and make the HogJog a success. I am very proud of the work we do. With the number of variables we deal with each year mistakes will be made. I wish to extend my apologies to the 10k runners. This year I failed to properly review the course with all of our marshals and there was a misdirection on the 10k route. This extended the route by 900 meters. As a compliment to our marshals once they realized the redirection, they did not fix it. So although a mistake was made everyone followed the same course for the 10k route. Again, I offer my sincere apologies. I hope to see everyone back next year.

Hog Jog 2017 will provide needed funds to support Optimism Place Women's Shelter and Support Services.
Optimism Place is a Perth County shelter for women who are suffering abuse of any kind: physical, sexual, emotional or mental. Located in Stratford, it serves as a refuge for women and their children seeking to escape violence and abuse, where they can obtain professional help in a secure and confidential setting. Funds raised this year will help Optimism Place purchase a new van – to provide reliable transportation for local and rural women to get to the shelter as well as court meetings and other professional meetings. The new van will also provide safe transportation to and from school for the children living at the shelter.
Our Honourary Hog Jog 2017 Chair is Ingrid de Martines. Ingrid and her family have been involved in pork production since 1979, specializing in heritage and exotic breeds of swine.
