The objectives for Pork for a Cause – Hog Jog are:
• An opportunity for the pork industry to give back to the community
• An opportunity for the industry to recognize the contributions of a
member while supporting a Charity/Cause of
significance to that individual
• An opportunity to raise community awareness of the Cause
• An opportunity for the industry and community to interact in a fun
activity
• An opportunity to celebrate our product
As a way of “giving back to the community”, a different Cause will be
selected for the event each year. As a way of “celebrating the people of
the pork industry”, an Honourary Chair will be selected each year to put
a face on the chosen Cause. The Honourary Chair has no responsibility
for planning or conducting the Hog Jog but is asked to be present at the
event to be recognized as it’s Honourary Chair. This is primarily an “Honourary”
position to recognize the individual and help to personalize or “to put
a face on” the Cause. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to
the Cause
selected for the year.
The Pork for a Cause committee will solicit submissions that include:
1) a recommended Cause and
2) a nomination for Honourary Chair.
The Pork for a Cause Committee will then make a recommendation to the
OPIC Board of Directors for consideration and approval. This submission
process and the associated criteria will be reviewed by the committee
annually.
